TIP! Encaustic pictures do not need to be varnished or protected by glass. Beeswax does not allow moisture to pass through, which is one of the main causes of deterioration of a colour film. Wax resists moisture far more than resin varnish or oil. Polishing encaustic gives colour gloss and saturation just like resin paint.
