The PRINCETON™ Select™ ARTISTE™ Fluffy Mop brush 3750 is ideal for multi-media, for acrylic, watercolour, gouache and oil paints. The brush has a shorter handle - perfect if you want to be a little closer to your work.

PRINCETON™ Select™ ARTISTE™ is a vast line of 29 distinct shapes created for oil, acrylic and watercolour artists. The brushes have satin-finish jewel-tone blue handles and silver ferrules. This curved, somewhat fluffy wash brush is also called a mop. This particular version has natural hair, which works more flexibly due to the looser brush shape - the name fluffy mop says it all - and is quite absorbent.

You can use it to draw broad brush strokes and smooth washes, grounds & imprimaturas in thinned paint - perfect for blending & wet-on-wet techniques. Or you can work with paint that you don't dilute much, if at all, and apply with a tamping touch - used like this, it's also a bit like a dry-brush technique.

Product specifications of the PRINCETON™ Select™ ARTISTE™ Fluffy Mop brush 3750 at a glance:

  • brush shape: flat, with a rounded and curved top
  • size 1/4"
  • natural hair
  • medium flexibility
  • seamless, nickel-plated brass ferrule
  • short, blue-lacquered wooden handle with a satin finish

TIP! You can, of course, combine both methods above: for example: first draw a small circle on a dark ground using some water, which you then colour with a dot of thinned yellow watercolour paint. Then dry your brush and in the wet paint use slightly thicker yellow watercolours or gouache to draw the contours of a flame, in which you add some accents with undiluted white gouache. This is how you paint a candle flame - all with the same brush!
