Liquitex® PROFESSIONAL ACRYLIC MEDIUMS™ Black Gesso is the ideal base for a stable application of paint because it seals the surface and grips the paint. It is acid-free and age-resistant.
Experiment with metallic, fluorescent, interference or iridescent colours on a black background. The results are surprisingly different from on a white background! Black absorbs more light, making your colours stand out more. But even ordinary colours work differently and distinctively on a black background. Try it, you will be amazed!
This gesso makes a flexible support - such as canvas - stiffer and more stable. At the same time, the gesso itself remains flexible enough to move with your canvas. If you work on a non-flexible support - for example, wood - we recommend priming the back side as well. This will prevent warping of the wood.
Liquitex® Black Gesso is ideal as a primer for all acrylic paints, water-soluble paint, oil paints, pastels, graphite etc. It can be used to seal canvas, wood, paper and metal.
