HOLBEIN | Hirahake Oriental Hake Brushes — goat hair
HOLBEIN Hirahake Oriental Hake Brushes are traditional Oriental spalter brushes. Traditionally, hake brushes are used in classical Eastern calligraphy techniques with ink.
However, these bushes are equally suitable for watercolour washes, paper dabbing, oil colour washes and shellac application when working with gold leaf.
TIP! You can also use them for the fast & loose watercolour painting technique, wet-on-wet or otherwise.
In these flat, wide brushes, super-soft goat hair is fixed between the split-open ends of the handle like a wedge. Those ends are then sewn together with thread so that the bristles are securely attached.
