Gerstaecker | XL Extra-Thick Canvas Stretcher Bars — individual
These Gerstaecker XL Extra-Thick Wooden Stretcher Bars are 4.3 cm deep and 5.8 cm wide. They are made from natural pine. The greatest care is taken in selecting the wood and making the stretcher bars.
The bars have corners which fit snugly and they have a slightly rounded edge. These extra-thick wooden stretcher bars are becoming increasingly popular. They are attractive to look at and can even be hung without further framing. They are particularly suitable for large sized artwork as they provide much needed depth. To achieve the same result with traditional stretcher pieces you often need to nail or screw two pieces together, which can cause problems with stability and even distort the frame.
The ends of the Gerstaecker XL Extra-Thick Wooden Stretcher Bars are fitted with pegs and slots that can be joined together to form a sturdy frame. From a side length of 60 cm, the slats have one or, from 210 cm, two centre slots to accommodate struts or centre crosses. The slats can be driven apart again by hammering in hardwood wedges. This makes it easy to re-stretch the stretcher bars. A sufficient number of wooden wedges are supplied free of charge and are included in the scope of delivery.
