Genuine Papyrus is used today primarily for painting, printing, decoration and handicraft purposes. It is ideal for tempera, acrylic and watercolour painting, and also for ink, pastels and markers. Genuine Papyrus can also be used for lino and screen-printing.
Genuine Papyrus is hand-made using the traditional methods from Ancient Egypt. It is made from the pith of the papyrus plant and consists of thin, long,wide strips superimposed at right angles, then pressed and hammered. The starchy vegetable juice that escapes combines the strips during drying to a light, elastic fabric. Genuine Papyrus is very decorative and versatile.
