DERWENT CHARCOAL XL Blocks consist of charcoal powder compressed into a rectangular block. They have a finer structure, but are slightly harder than an ordinary charcoal stick. They allow you to create expressive lines as well as filling larger areas, depending on whether you use them flat or at an angle. The colour selection is perfect for subtle tonal work. As this charcoal crayon is water-soluble, you can also wash it and work with it wet-on-wet. You can easily apply details & nuances, and make corrections & changes with a dabber or a kneadable eraser.
TIP: If you want to draw very fine and precise lines combine these charcoal crayons with DERWENT's charcoal pencils. Or if you want coarser and somewhat unpredictable lines then break off a piece of charcoal and sketch with the somewhat frayed broken edge.
